In Kozani (Greece) they commemorate the shepherds who lit the bonfires to announce the birth of Jesus Christ. Known as the Kladaries, the actual ceremony takes place in the village of Siatista where the locals light fires and dance around them while drinking the local wines. The three best bonfires win prizes.
